Most driveway repair is far smaller than people expect, as long as it is caught before water gets into the base. Here is what we are usually fixing.
Driveway Crack Repair
Driveway crack repair and asphalt crack repair, cleaned out and filled before water reaches the base. It is the cheapest repair there is and the one that buys the most time.
Pothole Repair & Patching
Driveway patching and asphalt patching done the way it holds. Failed sections cut out square, the base underneath repaired, then fresh hot asphalt laid and compacted flush so the patch does not sink back down.
Resurfacing & Asphalt Overlay
An asphalt overlay is a new layer laid over a surface that is worn or cracked but still sound underneath. Far cheaper than tearing the whole thing out.
Edge & Shoulder Repair
Crumbling driveway edges rebuilt and supported so they stop breaking away every time a wheel runs over them.
Sunken & Settled Areas
A low spot holding water usually means the base failed, not the surface. We dig to find out, fix what is under it, then repave that section.
Drainage-Related Failure
If water is what is destroying the driveway, asphalt alone will not hold. We can fix the drainage and the surface together.
Repair, resurface or replace?
These three things cost very different amounts, and plenty of contractors will quote you the biggest one. What you actually need comes down to the base under the asphalt.
Repair it
Cracks and a few potholes in a surface that is otherwise solid. Fill, patch and seal, and you get years more out of what you already own.
Resurface it
Surface cracking across most of the driveway but a base that is still holding. A new overlay bonded on top costs a fraction of replacement.
Replace it
Cracking in every direction, sections moving underfoot, water pumping up through the surface. The base has gone, and an overlay would fail with it.
Your driveway has been telling you for a while
Asphalt rarely fails overnight. It fades, cracks and dips for a season or two first, and the repair only gets bigger and more expensive the longer it waits. If you are seeing any of these, it is worth a free look.
- Cracks spreading, especially "alligator" cracking across the surface
- Potholes, dips or soft spots forming after rain
- Water pooling on the surface instead of draining off
- A gray, faded, brittle look where the asphalt has dried out
- Crumbling, ragged edges along the driveway or lot
- More patch than pavement, with repairs that keep coming back

Protect the work you just paid for
A repaired driveway lasts far longer if water is kept out of it, from above and from below.

Straight answers before you call
Can my driveway be repaired, or does it need replacing?
It depends on whether the base under the asphalt is still sound. Cracks and potholes in a solid driveway are a repair. Widespread cracking in every direction, sections that move underfoot, or water pumping up through the surface mean the base has failed and an overlay would fail with it. We will tell you honestly which one you have, because we would rather do the smaller job than sell you the bigger one.
What does asphalt driveway repair cost?
Asphalt driveway repair is priced off how much of the driveway is affected, whether it is surface cracking or base failure, and how much of it needs to come out. We do not quote driveway repair over the phone. The on-site visit is free and the price is written down before anything starts.
What causes potholes in an asphalt driveway?
Water. It gets in through a crack that asphalt crack repair would have closed, softens the base underneath, and then traffic breaks the unsupported surface apart. That is why crack filling early is worth so much, and why a pothole that keeps coming back usually means a drainage problem rather than an asphalt problem.
How long does driveway resurfacing take?
Most residential driveways are resurfaced in a day or two once scheduled, depending on size and how much patching the surface needs first. We will give you the timeline in writing with the price.
Can you repair a driveway in winter?
Hot asphalt work needs warm, dry weather to compact and cure properly, so repairs and resurfacing are booked in the dry-weather window, roughly spring through early fall. If water is what is causing the damage, we can do the drainage side in the wet season and the asphalt when it dries out.
Should I sealcoat after the repairs?
Usually yes. Once cracks are filled and patches have cured, a seal coat closes the surface so water stops getting back in. It is the step that protects the repair you just paid for.
